Project Manager
We are looking for an experienced Site Supervisor who can take charge of the day to day running of our structural steel rigging and crane teams, who work on various sites throughout New Zealand, this position will report to a Project Manager.
You will need to bring to our team this role the following:
A minimum of 5 years experience, 2 years of which ideally would be in New Zealand.
Be a New Zealand citizen or resident
Hold a full NZ drivers licence
A trade background would be beneficial
PMP, diploma or degree in construction management would be preferred
Sound knowledge of AS/NZS 3403 and AS/NZS 5131
Excellent communication skills at all levels
Proficient in MS Office, Aconex, Procore and Outlook.
Excellent understanding of Health, Safety, Environmental, requirements

Responsible for adhering to all relevant safety rules and regulations applicable to specific building sites and ensuring that they are enforced on site
Able to read and interpret Structural and Architectural drawings including project specific specifications and convey with detailers/workshop/site.
Fully responsible for complete projects from start up until completion – Project launch thru to sign off/QA documentation from site (supplied by Site supervisors/Site manager, QA coordinator) Liaise with client regarding programme and assess GEL internal programme/restraints, advise client of any impending delays.
Resolving Request for information (RFI) from detailers, understanding RFI content, making client aware of all delays and constraints, expediting a quick response to RFIs and approval issues.
Assess build-ability issues and methods of construction in conjunction with the Workshop Manager, Construction Manager and Site Manager, formulate erection methodologies and convey these to the Client.
Liaise/oversee sub-contractors – Steltech, Core brace or any external supplier that could impact programme and quality.
Monitor and assess fabrication, progress, durations ensuring programme dates will be met.
Attending pre-construction meetings and site meetings throughout the duration of the projects.
Responsible for the monitoring and recording/filing of all records including H&S and QA documentation, delivery information, day works or variation related works.
Assist with costing variation works once project has commenced, liaise with workshop for any fabrications or material procurement alongside site manager and site supervisors.

Reporting to Grayson Engineering Site Management
Working on various construction sites throughout New Zealand as directed by Grayson engineering site management.
Responsible for adhering to all relevant safety rules and regulations applicable to specific building sites and ensuring that they are enforced and maintained including filling out & monitoring all health & safety related paperwork on a daily basis.
Responsible for the safe and effective running and daily duties of a medium sized site crew.
Able to read and interpret structural steel general arrangement drawings for the purposes of steel erection on site.
Monitor and record/file all records including H&S and QA documentation, delivery information, day works or variation related works.
Able to mark out and set out on site for the purposes of steel erection.
Able to supervise the fixing and securing of structural steel elements according to drawings and within prescribed tolerances.
Able to supervise the erection and securing of structural steel to the point of signing off and handing over to the client.
Able to liaise with the client to ensure that all works are performed in a safe and timely manner to the satisfaction of the client.
Able to track progress and as such report on progress relative to programme requirements.
Able to identify extra work that falls outside of contractual requirements and inform relevant parties of cost and programme implications ensuring correct paperwork & documentation are correctly completed in order to make a claim for additional works.
A knowledge of fabrication and welding
A sound knowledge of mobile crane operations elevated work platforms and all relevant site tools and plant.
Any suitable additional tasks when requested by management.

Quality Manager
The Quality Manager is responsible for monitoring, auditing, data collection and reviewing processes to ensure that they meet prescribed quality specifications, standards and customer expectations and compile documented evidence to illustrate the Company's quality performance and to satisfy our customers requirements.
Knowledge of structural steel fabrication and painting of structural steel will be a definite advantage.
You will need to have significant experience in a Production Environment, a strong Quality Assurance background, a Commercial perspective and will play a crucial part in the day to day running of the organisation. This role will require close collaboration with our production operations, technical teams, and Senior Management to ensure the delivery of a robust quality control system.
There will be a strong focus on the continuous improvement of both departmental processes and those within the business which the Quality Manager will drive forward using collated data and insights.
You will play a key role within the Management Team, which has a safety first, environment that supports continuous improvement to ensure that we achieve our manufacturing and sustainability ambitions. You will investigate and respond to feedback (both internal and external), complaints related to quality, implementing appropriate corrective actions to prevent re-occurrence.
You will maintain comprehensive Quality Assurance manual and ensure that actions, reports and audits (process, product and system) are conducted, completed on time and followed up to ensure closure of corrective actions.
You will need to bring to our team this role the following:
Quality systems experience.
Working knowledge of AS/NZS 5131, AS/NZS 1554, AS/NZS2312.
Previous auditing and investigation experience.
Minimum 5 years' experience in the steel manufacturing and/or painting industry.
Be a good communicator at all levels, both written and verbal.
Be a team player who provides solutions.

We offer apprenticeships to those that are interested in the structural steel industry. Our apprentices are trained under our experts and do on the job training and block courses to gain the skills and knowledge required to become either a welder, fabricator or machine operator.
